PayAnywhere is a mobile and storefront payment service provided by North American Bancard.

The PayAnywhere Mobile app and credit card reader allows users in the United States to accept credit card payments using their smartphone or tablet by swiping a credit or debit card through a mobile credit card reader (plugged into the audio jack of the smartphone or tablet), or by manually entering a credit or debit card number via the PayAnywhere mobile app. The app and credit card reader are compatible with both Apple and Android devices.

On April 8, 2014, PayAnywhere launched PayAnywhere Storefront. PayAnywhere Storefront is a free touchscreen tablet and stand with a built-in credit card reader meant to replace traditional terminals in stores.

Announced in late August 2015, the latest version of the PayAnywhere reader for iOS phones and tablets will feature Apple Pay support, as well as NFC, EMV and magnetic stripe. Aimed at small vendors, like coffee shops and food trucks, it's expected in September for $40 exclusively from Apple retail stores and online store. Android tablet support is expected in early October.

History

North American Bancard developed the PayAnywhere app internally. PayAnywhere officially launched in January 2011 on the iOS platform. In May 2011, PayAnywhere made its app available for Android devices. PayAnywhere launched an app for BlackBerry smartphones in May 2012, supporting BlackBerry models OS 4.7 or later.

In June 2012, PayAnywhere released its Android SDK to complement its iOS SDK, which was made available in December 2011. The SDKs, available in Basic and Advanced, allow developers to embed credit card processing functionality into their own apps.

PayAnywhere Storefront was launched in April 2014.

PayAnywhere Mobile is built under a "Pay-As-You-Go" model, with the app and credit card reader being free. They can be downloaded, at no cost, in the App Store and Google Play. Merchants can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit and debit cards. PayAnywhere merchants pay 2.69% per swipe and 3.49% + $0.19 per keyed transaction. As of December 2015, PayAnywhere charges inactivity fees for idle accounts; otherwise they claim there are no monthly fees or cancellation fees.

When it first launched, PayAnywhere Mobile was priced at 2.69% + $0.19 per swipe and 3.49% + $0.19 per keyed transaction. However, in March 2012, the company dropped the $0.19 transaction fee on swiped transactions.

PayAnywhere Storefront pricing starts at 1.69 percent for swiped credit card transactions, including American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and PayPal all with next-day funding. The solution also includes data encryption, tokenization and fraud protection. Additionally, in-app and online reporting provide small and medium-sized business owners with analysis tools. Users can easily monitor their daily sales, create inventories and generate customized reports of all sales activity in real time. This enables users to track sales immediately or over the long term and evaluate sales based on time of day, week or month to assess inventory orders and product promotions.
